Learning lab

The Learning Lab is an individual development program that helps employees create a personalized learning plan to align to their career goals. 
 

Besides facilitating part of the sessions and designing part of the learner's experience, I also design and developed the collateral material used in the program.

THE PROBLEM
Steelcase is a global company with more than 10,000 employees and internal learning and development team of only 10 employees distribuited globally. This prompted the question:

HOW MIGHT WE CREATE A LEARNING PROGRAM THAT ADAPTS TO THE NEEDS OF DIVERSE GROUP OF LEARNERS?

The solution came in the form of a partnership with Udemy for Business. The Learning Lab was borned as companion to this partnership. 



















THE SOLUTION

The Learning Lab was virtual learning space that would allow learners to exercise and practice key skills around developing their own learning plan to become more FUTURE-FIT.

 

The Steelcase Learning Lab was open to around the globe employees who were motivated and ready to engage in active pursuit of their own learning and development goals. Here are some of the elements that were included in the experience:
 

  • Virtual training support. Hosted in Microsoft Teams, learning events, materials and tools can be accessed at the times that work best for you. There will also be options for live sessions at various touchpoints through the journey. Through a supportive system and framework, they engaged in hands-on learning activities, practical exercises and regular feedback that is critical for ongoing growth.  
     

  • Diverse e-learning resources.  Completion of the first workshop granted the learners free access to a wide variety of content curated to meet learners’ needs. Leveraging a partnership with Udemy for Business, the experience included open access to Udemy’s online learning platform with 4,000+ top rated, engaging courses that can be accessed anytime, anywhere. 
     

  • Social learning. Based on a community-based approach to learning, we will use the various channels to progress through an individualized, self-paced learner journey.  The lab experience will also be leveraged for relevant course recommendations, leader-boards, peer recommendations and feedback as we support each other through the learning process.
